INSIDE THE SCREEN

We all settled down and Helen went into the kitchen to brew a large pot of tea.

'No booze, Ladies', her decision was final, even Cassie didn't object. 'What we all need now is a good cup of tea and a biscuit..... have you got any biscuits Amanda?'

I knew that there was a packet of HobNobs at the back of the cupboard and I told Helen, HobNobs are one of my favourites.

Once we were all laden with steaming cups of English Breakfast in my favourite spotted Emma Bridgewater mugs we nestled around Millie, re-assuring her with our presence but hopefully giving her space to breath too.

'So what happened back there', Helen voice was soft and comforting, she didn't want to push Millie too hard.

'I don't really know', Millie replied, 'except to say that it seemed so real, it really was like it was happening..' she tailled off.

'Like a dream?' Cassie leaned forward, 'did you have a nightmare? A bad dream?'

'No it wasn't like a dream', Millie hesitated and sipped at her tea, 'even when dreams seem real you still sort of know that it isn't ... you know things don't seem right in a dream do they? You are with people and places and things that aren't actually based in reality, more like a collection of places, events and thoughts...'

we all nodded our agreement ... I'd had a recurring dream about Tomas and I ... boy was it hot ... however, I knew that was never going to happen!

'Well this wasn't like that, it was really, really real ... I was watching what was happening like you would the television only I was actually there, like I was actually in the screen ... but I couldn't interact with anything. Everything was happening around me but I was powerless to do anything about it, I could only observe...'

Tears filled Millie's eyes and she started to tell us about 'Gothex'.
